This is the thirty-eighth Tamworth Tamworth Festival and as I child, I experienced more than thirty of them. Some of those years were gone, to live in other countries. But I managed to come back for the most part, ifLive interstate or elsewhere.
I remember my first party, then a three-day event are in some way, some of the clearest of my childhood. As a young girl wearing a long flowered dress I was sitting in the front row at the 1973 Golden Guitar Awards at Tamworth Town Hall. I watched the stars collect their prizes, while swinging my legs, too short to reach, then to the ground. I knew them all on stage, though, and every word of their winning songs.
My father was very involved in thebeginning of the sector and these "stars" were friends of the family, had from time to time for people to play music.
